Outfit 20 - Polka Dot Button-Up Shirt + Pleated Skirt

This polka-dot shirt was actually an impulse grab as I entered the dressing room.  I saw the polka-dotted fabric peeking out from the rack and was pleasantly surprised to pull out this shirt in a style I liked, and in my size! I tried on several items but this shirt was the only thing I ended up getting.   I guess I can never leave Goodwill empty-handed, that's for sure!  =P  This outfit reminds me of an outfit that my mother might have worn back-in-the-day (before I existed!), which is why I paired it with these particular shoes, also something she would have worn.

I switched those shoes out for my plain black ones though.  I don't know why, but I didn't like how they looked from the side.  Maybe I was being too self-conscious of my legs looking short in those shoes....>_<

The belt is also among some of the first items I've ever thrifted!  The clasp is unique, which is why I chose it.

I paired the vintage purse my mother had given me to complete the look!  :)

Also, I'd like to say thanks for all the feedback that was given for the previous entry!  It seemed like an even split for either cardigan, so I guess I can't go wrong!  :D

Outfit 19 - Orange Floral Skirt

This orange floral skirt was actually one of my FIRST-ever thrifted clothing items!

Ah, I couldn't resist throwing in one picture wearing my beloved electric blue wedges.  I just think the color goes soooooo perfectly with the green belt!

Okay, back to reality....two different cardigans, different lengths, similar colors....which one do I like more?  Not so sure.....=P  What do you think?

Outfit 18 - Pinstriped Navy Blue Skirt

I notice that the  high-waisted skirts that fit me the best (and the ones that have no breathing room) are usually from China or Hong Kong.  I would probably fit a size large over there!  How is it that they are able to have such tiny waists, right?  ^_^;;;;

I paired this skirt with another navy blue item that has never seen the light of day either.   I have difficulty making long cardigans work for me.  I think that was before I discovered that I didn't *need* to button them up all the way, or at all!  When I buttoned it all up, it was not a pretty sight at the hips.  >_<

Navy blue belt as well!  I didn't have navy blue shoes though.  I hope that's okay.  I somehow got it in my head that black and navy blue aren't suppose to go together, like brown and black?  But, the rules have certainly changed, I hope!

Oh, beautiful and structured white purse, how faithful you are!

Outfit 17 - Tied Green Shirt + Floral Skirt + Electric Blue Wedges!

When I attempt to put together an outfit, I usually focus on one item from my closet and work around that one item.  Today, it was a lucky day for this light green sleeveless button-up shirt which I had thrifted two years ago but had not worn even once!  >_<  I found a skirt and did the standard thing of belting everything.

That proved to be okay, but kinda boring, right?  =P  This shirt just looked like one that needed to be tied up, and so I did just that!

Too bad I ain't brave enough to bare my midsection.  You wouldn't wanna see that hanging out anyway.  =P

Just because I'm sure you couldn't keep your eyes off these true electric blue wedges, here's a close-up!  I purchased these more than three years ago from Marshalls, and it is quite obvious that I could NOT resist the color.  It was calling out to me, so I had to buy them!  I just think this color goes so well with the green color of my belt.  LOVE!  *Sigh*

Outfit 16 - PFC #8 "Spinning the Favorite"

Well, it appears to be that time of month again!  Thanks to Gracie of Radiator Sessions for hosting this month's Petite Fashion Challenge!

Here's an excerpt of what this month's challenge entails:

Many times we settle with a style and rarely venture out to explore new ways to piece clothes and style outfits in new and different ways. With this month, I’m hoping for all of us to venture out of our comfort zones to expand our styling skills.

Thus, the challenge will be to take a “go-to” outfit, put a spin on it by styling it in a different way but still keeping a couple of essential components.

If changing up the your signature style is too great of a feat or if your closet just doesn’t quite allow it, you can keep within your signature style but tweak a few items to transform your outfit for a different occasion.

Sooo, first we have to define what my "go-to" outfit is.  It can probably be summarized by this simple equation: Shirt + Cardigan + Belt + Skirt = Go-To Outfit.  No brainer, eh?  Naturally, that is what I put together for this challenge, with the major twist being......a jean skirt!  *Gasp*

I know jean skirts are probably horribly out-of-style.  This particular skirt has been sitting in my closet for years.  I was *this* close to getting rid of it, but maybe I had a soft spot for it, with the hopes that it would eventually come back into style....maybe?  I remember the way I would wear it years ago was with the jean skirt sitting on my hips.  I hated how it would always inch up higher and higher, which is probably why I avoided it.  Now, this time around, I just did the work for it by hiking it up, and....tucking a shirt into it!  *Gasp* (Me and tucking in shirts don't go very far back!)  So, in a sense, I'm pretending it's a high-waisted skirt.

Also, instead of a regular belt, I used a houndstooth-patterned scarf.  (I had been itching to try something like that!)

Well, here's the typical cardigan with the outfit.  But, I added a flower brooch to make it more interesting.  Again, a first! (Read: I am bad at accessorizing. That is usually harder than putting together the actual outfit!)

Then I gotta involve one of my favorite purses in this!  =P

Hmmm, it's actually pretty difficult to see the ruffles on the black shirt, but I assure you they're there.

Next thing you know, I'll be dusting out my khaki skirts!  Anyway, thanks for stopping by!  :)

Outfit 15 - Black and Green Dress + Candy Wrapper Purse

I like when I find a "dress" that is actually meant to be a shirt for someone taller.  =P

I combined it with an ivory lace shirt underneath.   I don't know why I decided that....I think I was trying to figure out a way to wear the lace shirt.  =P  I have a pink one in the exact same style.  I sometimes buy the same pieces in several colors.  >_<

I thrifted this brand new purse from Goodwill for $6, and what amused me the most about it was the fact that it was made from candy wrappers!

This purse would retail for over $50 on Etsy, and though I would like to make one myself, I recognize all the time and effort this would take, plus, I don't eat candy, so it would be difficult to collect that many wrappers.  Maybe I'd used Flamin' Hot Cheetos bags.  Mmmm.  =P Anyway, most of all, I lack the skills to make this!

So, over the weekend, specifically Saturday, the hubby and I played badminton for almost 2 hours.  I had a Groupon for a full day of playing at a facility dedicated to badminton.  I don't know if badminton counts as a "sport", but it's the only "sport" I am decent at and actually willing to participate in.  Hahaha.  Anyway, with just under 2 hours of play time, even after 2 days, I am still sore all over!  Sooooooooo out-of-shape!  >_<   But, we've decided that we will go once a week, since we had so much fun!  It might just be my only form of exercise for the week.  =P  For shame!

Also, I had the hubby help me carve this:

It's a turtle watermelon!  I got to use the melon-baller again!  It's not often I get to use that sucker.  =P  This watermelon came with an assortment of other fruit and veggie goodies from my local CSA.  Hooray for locally grown produce!!  =D

Outfit 14 - Another Brown Floral Skort + Leather Wrap Bracelet

Oh, there I go again with the neutral colors - particularly the browns!  >_<  And, not only that, it's another skort!!

I think the change of shoes gives it a much different feel.  I think I am digging the nude wedges more.  I think you might agree with me, am I right?  ^_~

The same ol' cardigan with my vintage purse.  I like how versatile the purse is.

I love the ruffles on the shirt!  The shirt also features a see-through panel near the chest area, so it could be interpreted as scandalous if one looks closely enough.  (Can't tell in this picture though!) ^_^;;;;

So, with the inspiration of SewPetiteGal and her awesome tutorial, I was able to make this bracelet!  Her site is great for petites and those of us into DIYs!  :)

Oddly enough, I enjoy the smell of the leather....it smells like....seaweed.  =D  Completing this bracelet was a proud moment for me!  Hahaha.  It did take several hours, but the results = LOVE!

To end on a sour note....I recently tried "kefir" for the first time ever and it tastes like sour milk, but in a good way?  It's suppose to contain all sorts of good, gut-loving bacteria.  It reminds me very much of the original tart frozen yogurt flavor that is currently all the rage.  =D

Outfit 13 - Long Purple Vest

Here's a dress I got from the 75% sale rack at Target.  I was surprised they had many small sizes available.  I tried on the XS size and I could hardly breath!  That hurt my ego just a tiny bit.  ;)   I love the variety of colors and the pattern.  My problem is that I don't have enough plain items in my wardrobe.  I have too many patterns and it makes it difficult for me to match things. >_<

So, I've had this purple vest laying around for awhile.  I love the brightness of it and I remember trying it on and thinking that I could work it into my wardrobe somehow.  But when I actually tried, it was quite difficult!  Haha.  This was my first time successfully matching it with something, and I think it probably only worked because the dress was a similar color.

I knew I needed to belt this dress and decided that green was the way to go!  I punched a couple of holes in my belt with my trusty Crop-A-Dile to make the belt accommodate my waist, as this belt was meant for the hips.  =D

I made this necklace two years ago when I first learned to make jewelry, and though it is one of my first finished projects, I tend to come back to it again and again.  :D  I think it's the combination of the colors, particularly that periwinkle blue color.

I've also decided to put random tidbits unrelated to the outfit content over here, that way you can get straight to the point (the outfit) and choose to ignore the irrelevant stuff I post over here!   First things first, if you wanna know a tiny bit more about me, I have a new "About Me" tab on the top of my page.  :)

And one random thing:  I am obsessed with Taylor Swift's song "Mine".  I know it's an old song but I would magically hear the song being played when I'm out thrifting/shopping and the tune simply got stuck in my head.  I especially love the line "You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter."  I dunno why but I thought that line was so darn clever!  I guess I'm just easily amused.  :D

Outfit 12 - Forest Green Ruffle

Sometimes, there are things I thrift that I love, and then there are some items that I *LOVE*!  This blouse is one of those items.  =D The material is sheer and soft, and I don't encounter this color that often.  The skirt is actually pretty neat since there are shorts hidden underneath, but you could never tell.  =P  I also find it amusing that this skirt is actually a size large, probably because it's a Chinese brand.  o.O

Here, you can see a close-up of the ruffles. The belt is a dark maroon color with an alligator texture to it.  I hope the colors went together!  >_<

The shoes were a pretty awesome find from our local Savers.  $6.99 for Stuart Weitzman shoes in very good condition!  I thought the brand sounded familiar.  I checked online and shoes from this brand retail for $250 and upwards!  I considered myself pretty lucky since I was looking for a pair of black pumps.  I feel so giddy on the inside and outside!  Hehehe.  :)

Outfit 11 - Gap Shirt Dress

I had been wanting a shirt dress that wasn't too long for my short stature for awhile, so you can imagine my excitement when I found this on one of my thrifting excursions.  That was awhile ago.  When I wore it this time around, I was bursting at the seams at the bust area.  Hahaha.  That's why I ultimately had to give this to my sister.  :(  Oh well, movin' on!

I tried to casual it up with this short sleeved jacket.

A cardigan and pearls always makes an outfit look sweeter.  Please excuse how wrinkly this dress looks.  I did attempt to iron it though!

Ah, my new favorite purse!  How faithful you are!
