Outfit 32 - Petite Fashion Challenge #9 - "Heat Wave Appropriate"

Thanks to Elle of Fast Food & Fast Fashion for hosting this month's Petite Fashion Challenge!  Yay!!  :D  This challenge involved creating an outfit that takes you from the summer heat outdoors to cooler, air-conditioned environments indoors.

Here's the basic outfit.  The shirt is nice and billowy to allow for maximum air flow, especially to the armpits!  Hehehehe.  =P  The belt looks almost black, but it's suppose to be a dark forest green.

I didn't do much to the outfit except adding a cardigan.  That's how "easy" it is for me.  =P  It doesn't get to 90 degrees around here (darn!) so I'm usually content with the weather outside.  I'm obsessed with cardigans because they're very portable and easy for me to stuff into my purse.  That doesn't mean it comes out wrinkle-free though, sadly!  :/  Oh wells, warmth over looks, right??  ^_~

I decided to roll up the sleeves.  :)

The necklace and brooch were both from Claire's (or Icings).  I buy accessories there when they have their 10 for $10 sale.  I remember the good ol' days when it used to be 10 for $5!  Oh, how the times have changed!  =P

And, oh, I finally got my hands on some red shoes, from Target!!  :D  Both a size 5.5 and a size 6 were available, and I chose the size 6 because it felt more comfortable on my toes in the front.  Even though that was the case, I kept stepping out of the shoe while walking, so I definitely need to put in some heel liners and maybe some padding in the front to keep myself from slipping out.  Other than that, I love these shoes!  I never liked the color red as a child, but nowadays, I definitely don't mind wearing it!  =P

Outfit 31 - Floral Skort

Seems like I can't get enough of skorts these days!  Good thing you can't tell this is a skort, even from the back!

I don't think this was meant to be a cardigan, but I pretended it was anyway.  If I were to button it up all the way, it would make me look like I was bulging out, and we can't have that now, can we?  ^_~

I have this particular cardigan style in three different colors: brown, green, and black.  I know you guys are getting sick of seeing the brown one though!  =P

Good thing this is a skort, cuz it looks super short!  How scandalous!  =P

Outfit 30 - Blue Skirt + Floral Scarf

For those of you who have followed me recently, you probably know that I am OBSESSED with this blue color, which obviously explains why I just *had* to have it!  It was from the clearance rack of Forever21, before my thrifting days.  The scarf was thrifted though.  :)

Is this the first time I have ever featured a scarf?  Maybe!  And in summer too, no less!  What great timing!  *Slight sarcasm there* =P  I wanted the scarf to be useful as a shawl, which is what I attempted in the first picture.  Here, I made sleeves!  Hahaha.

I just tied it like I normally would...one of the few ways that I know how.

In this picture, I decided to get creative, and I can proudly say I did this all on my own (though I'm sure this is not an original scarf knot or anything!)  I also thought the color of this cardigan went well with the skirt.

Here's a close-up of the bow.  What's lame is that I'm pretty sure I won't be able to replicate this without much trying.  =P

And here's the scarf that was used!  The colors are a feast for the eyes!  :D

Outfit 29 - Black Floral Maxi Dress

So, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a maxi dress after seeing some form of a maxi on many other fellow fashion bloggers!  =P  I purchased this particular dress from Ross for $15.  *Sigh* It's not thrifted, I know!  *Hangs head in shame* I tried on several dresses and many were either too long, or surprisingly too short.  That was probably meant to be a mini skirt for a taller person!  Haha.  =P  I don't know if it's the angle of my camera but my feet look so darn big in these pictures!!  >_<

I almost didn't bother to try this on initially because it was a size large.  I went back to it the second time around and decided to try it on anyway since it seemed small enough on the top, with room to stretch.  When I tried it on, I was pleasantly surprised it fit, and the length was decent.  I can wear flats with this maxi dress, which I wonder if it means it's too short??  Being that it is a size large, there is room for growth.  I kinda think I look matronly in this, but at least I know it will definitely work for me when I'm actually expecting (one day)!  :)

I decided to pair this with a jean jacket instead of my traditional cardigan.  :) And, for those of you who commented on my previous two "scandalous" outfits, this is like a complete 180 degrees, right?  ^_~

Here's a close-up of the necklace I'm wearing.  I know it's quite bright and distracting!  It's neon pink!  I purchased this for the beads.  It's long enough that I can probably make a necklace and a bracelet from it.

Outfit 28 - Black Lace Top + Black Floral Skirt

This lace top was originally thrifted to be a vest.  I would need to make some changes to it, so I decided to wear it as a top first.  You can't see it because it's tucked in, but this shirt is actually somewhat scandalous...it's meant to display the bellybutton!  Okay, maybe I'm just too conservative, but it didn't look right on me, hence it's tucked in.  ^_^

The skirt also has a floral pattern on it.

Here's a black cardigan to top it off. :)

I decided I needed something not-black to accessorize with, so I used my white purse as a contrast.

My mom originally bought these shoes for herself but ended up giving them to me many many years ago.  I had kept them in the closet all this time because honestly, I thought they were a bit too chunky for the times.  Fast forward to now and chunky is in again, but the question is....for how long??!! =P

Outfit 27 - Purple Peephole Shirt + Pink Floral Skirt

Oh boy....a shirt with a peephole right at the area where cleavage should be.....sadly, there was no cleavage!  This was one of those impulse buys where I LOVED the color and couldn't leave without it.  Since then, I have learned my lesson.  The material of this shirt is cheap jersey, so I know I will only get a few wears out of it.  This has also been sitting in my closet for years...try 4 years!  The flower is part of the shirt.

Here's my failed attempt to make this outfit slightly more modest....as if a cardigan would distract from the peephole and the rather short skirt!  =P

This skirt also has pockets!!!  :D

Outfit 26 - Forest Green Skirt + Electric Blue + Handmade Gift Exchange

Yep, I can't get enough of these electric blue wedges.  They're surprisingly versatile to my wardrobe...or so I'd like to think!  I've done it several times, and I'll probably do it again where I match this particular green belt to the shoes.

At least now my cardigan matches the shoes!  So I'm not completely off!  The cardigan is suppose to be blue, but I think it looks purple in this picture.  Oh wells!

So, I recently participated in the Handmade Gift Exchange hosted by Craftaholics Anonymous!  My partner was Crystal, who has her own blog at Homemaker In Heels.  Check out her blog if you are interested in DIYs!

This is what I made for Crystal!  Here is the packaging and a handmade card.  :D

I made some earrings for her, because that's what I do best!  Hehehehe.

And here is what she sent me!  I love handmade photo frames! I added the polar bear picture because I happen to love bears!  :D  Thanks Crystal!!  This made my day when I received it in the mail!  :)

Outfit 25 - Maroon Lace "Cardigan" + Floral Skirt

The shirt is a Banana Republic tank top.  I like it because of the floral lace detailing on the front.  No need for a necklace!

This "cardigan" is actually a size large Forever21 top.  I originally bought it for its potential as a vest, but obviously I wasn't digging this look.  Hahaha.

I decided to tie it up, and I quite like it. :)

Then, why not try to tuck it in?

Look, I made sleeves!  =D

Outfit 24 - Bridesmaid Dress + DIY Glitter Shoes

So, this weekend, I had the honor of being a bridesmaid to one of my friends from college.  It was a beautiful wedding, as ALL weddings are to me, and I have never met a couple so compatible and perfect for one another!  :)

I ordered the dress in February and at that time, it was a tight fight.  When I wore it this time around, it was actually a tiny bit looser.  Hehehe.  Being that it was strapless, I had to be careful of it slipping down.  Good thing that didn't happen at the wedding!

I bought this clutch/purse specifically for this wedding since I wanted a place to put my phone and makeup for touch-ups, but then I discovered on the day of that this dress came with pockets!!  Hahaha.  Oh wells.  =P  I guess I can use this purse another time.  It's very sparkly!

I had needed silver shoes and did not want to spend money on a pair of silver shoes I might not wear often, especially if it was a sandal-heel type of shoe.  So, because this particular pair of black shoes had been slightly scuffed up, I decided it was the perfect shoe to transform.  In the end, I was very very pleased with the shoes. This is what they looked like before all the glitter.

Here are my DIY glitter shoes! This is what they looked like after 4 layers of glitter and one layer of clear acrylic varnish.  This picture definitely does not do it justice.  It is almost blindingly glittery in the right lighting.  It makes me giddy to wear!  =D

This entire outfit including accessories was non-thrifted!  It feels wrong somehow!  =P
